A conscript carabineer died at Chisinau-based garrison 1002 on Sunday night. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the man was found unconscious in the dorms after complaining of feeling sick.
The carabineer was rushed to the garrison's infirmary where he received first aid. An ambulance was called to provide further medical care. However, the man died at about 20:50.
Military prosecutors went on site together with a police unit and a forensic expert. They found in the carabineer's pockets pills of unknown composition. According to fellow carabineers' accounts, he received the pills from his mother several days earlier.
Contacted by IPN, Carabineer Troops Department spokesperson Alina Bunghez said the carabineer, 20, was drafted in November 2014 by the Comrat Territorial Military Center.
The case is being investigated by military prosecutors, who are considering a number of versions, including bullying, instigation to suicide, the existence of some medical conditions and other possible circumstances.
