Car Drivers’ Union of Moldova has joined the European Driving Schools Association, which comprises 23 member countries, especially from the EU.
The Union’s head Vladimir Balla stated Friday November 10 at a press conference that the Moldovan people’s acceptance to this Association is a great achievement. They will have the possibility to familiarize themselves with its experience in the field, to create and harmonize the plans and concept in education for instructing the drivers in Moldova. The European Association supports any initiatives that lead to the improvement of the traffic security, the cited source added.
There are about 140 economic agents in Moldova that provide services for drivers instruction, but they are obviously poorer compared to that European ones, as the programme of drivers’ professional instruction does not correspond to the quality of the European standards in the field, Balla stressed.
Head of the Drivers’ Registration Division of the Informational Development Ministry, Ilie Bricicaru, told the same press conference that the programme for instructing drivers in Moldova still includes soviet provisions from the theoretical and practical viewpoint. The Directive 439 of the UE contains additional requirements as concerns the granting of the driving license, drivers instruction, requirements related to health conditions of the drivers, which must be implemented in Moldova, the cited source reports.
According to Bricicaru, national authorities started to entirely modify the concept of taking the exam to receive the driving license. He says that the number of test cards, requirements towards the applicant, including the medical ones, will be increased, and the psychological test will be introduced like in the European countries.
