Car data illegally accessed from restricted database sold to clients

The police uncovered a scheme through which restricted data about the profile of cars in Moldova were illegally accessed and later sold to interested persons. According to the General Police Inspectorate, searches were carried out and the head of the concerned company was questioned as a suspect, IPN reports.

The data that the company obtained illegally refers to the way the cars were introduced into the country, their insurance and technical inspection, the mileage or previous owners. The information was accessed without permission from a database with restricted access, intended for the electronic processing of compulsory motor liability insurance documents. Later, it was sold.

As a result of the searches, the police discovered over 140,000 lei, €10,000 and US$ 400 and also a crypto wallet, draft documents and a number of computer systems. The head of the concerned company is 40 years old and was questioned as a suspect.
