A car caught fire after exploding at a filling station in Chisinau on the morning of January 11. The information was confirmed for IPN by the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Liliana Pușcașu.
"A team of rescuers and firefighters travelled to the scene and localized and extinguished the fire. No casualties were reported. The circumstances of the case are to be established," said the press officer.
According to information provided by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the explosion occurred after the car was refueled and traveled a distance of 20 meters from the gas station located at 19 Albișoara St in Chisinau.
The driver, aged 55, suffered burns on his body. The man was given medical assistance at the scene and did not need hospitalization.
The press reported that the car that exploded belonged to a taxi company. In this regard, Liliana Pușcașu said that it will be determined who the owner of the vehicle was, but this does not fall within the competence of firefighters.
