The Government maintained the measure to cap local taxes that is stipulated in the draft budgetary-fiscal policy for 2021, but decided to put off the introduction of the raised VAT rate of 12% in agriculture for half a year. The current VAT rate of 8% will be used until July 1, 2021, IPN reports.
Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Pușcuța, Minister of Finance, said there were examined 85 amendments that occupied 200 pages. Thirty-three of the 201 proposals were accepted. Fifteen proposals were partially accepted, while 153 proposals were rejected.
The Ministry of Finance didn’t accept the amendment that excludes the airport tax. According to the authorities, this tax is an important source for financing the Population Support Fund and its exclusion will affect a number of programs.
The Cabinet rejected again the amendments that introduced a tax of 3% on interest gained by private individuals. The cap on taxes for goods imported through international postal services will be decided on the parliamentary platform.
