An inspector of the Cantemir Traffic Police Section was sentenced to five years in jail for passive corruption, IPN reports
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in February 2013, the police officer took away the license number of a vehicle parked on the footway for the reason that the car wasn’t subject to technical overhaul. He asked for €150 from the driver for not holding him accountable. The inspector was arrested immediately after he took the money.
Besides the jail term, the policeman will also have to pay a fine of 20,000 lei and will be unable to hold posts in the bodies of the Ministry of the Interior for a period of three years.
The court decision is not yet definitive.
