Andrian Candu, Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, will discuss the sanctions imposed by Russia with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin. The meeting, which was arranged for following a letter from the Russian Embassy, will take place on August 21 in Chisinau.
The Moldovan Ministry of Economy said the Russian side requested holding this meeting using the platform of the Moldova-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation, which is co-presided by Andrian Candu and Dmitri Rogozin.
“The Ministry of Economy sees it as its duty to use every occasion to engage in dialogue with the Russian side and do everything in it can to bring increased clarity and constructivism into the relationship between the two countries. In this respect, special attention will be given to the subject of the restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation to limit Moldovan exports and to the Russian's government decision to introduce customs duties”, the Ministry said in a press release.
Another highlight on the agenda is gas supply, as the contract with Russia is due to expire on 31 December 2014.
