By the so-called decree to apply the results of the referendum of 2006, where most of the participants voted for Transnistria’s union with the Russian Federation, the Transnistrian leader Yevgheny Shevchuk wants to obtain political benefits for the elections that will take place in the region this December, stated Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, IPN reports.

The Speaker said he regrets such a decision, which means regression in the dialogue on the Transnistrian conflict settlement. He added that the constitutional authorities will act only in accordance with the law and will respect the agreements reached during the conflict settlement process. Candu called on society to ignore the actions that promote separatism in Moldova.

Recently, Yevgheny Shevchuk signed a decree to apply the results of the ‘national referendum of September 17, 2006’ on Transnistria’s independence and ensuing joining of the Russian Federation. Shevchuk is running in the so-called presidential elections that will be held in the region this yearend.

The Reintegration Office issued a statement, saying this decree is a null document.
