The attraction of foreign investors and creation of new jobs, working out of a general urban development plan and founding of a municipal airline are among the promises made by the candidates of the PDCM, CUB and PSDE for mayor general of Chisinau. The three candidates presented the most important objectives of their platforms in the debates program ”I want to be a mayor” on ProTV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
Aliona Doroș, of the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova (PDCM), said that if he is elected mayor, Anatol Usatyi and his team will not allow raising local taxes to exert greater pressure on citizens and business entities. Money in the municipal budget can be identified by attracting investors and creating new jobs.
“Our team considers that the taxes should not be raised as this will be an additional burden on the business entities and citizens. The property tax the last few years was increased by 85% and all the local taxes for business entities were raised. Businesspeople in electoral meetings tell us that they cannot cope with the pace at which the local taxes grow. We come with a program by which we aim to economically develop the municipality of Chisinau, to attract foreign investors, to create hubs and platforms for investors. It is not mandatory to raise taxes to be able to collect incomes into the municipal budget,” stated Aliona Doroș.
Ion Bulgac, the candidate of the Coalition for Unity and Wellbeing (CUB), said that a new general urban development plan will be worked out to stop unauthorized constructions and he is a suitable candidate for managing the city.
“We aim to design a new general urban development plan that will prevent anyone from amending this document during the next 20 years. I’m a young, honest candidate. I do not have to answer for mistakes made in the past, as many have to in the current campaign. We have a pragmatic, assumed and serious offer for the citizens. I’m sure that I can be the leader our city needs today,” stated the candidate for mayor.
Vadim Brânzaniuc, the candidate of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE), intends to found a municipal airline to provide fights to the most popular destinations at reasonable prices.
“In Romania, except for the Băneasa Airport, all the airports are founded and managed by county councils and mayor’s offices. Besides airports, there are airlines. I came up with an idea after Wizz Air left and Air Moldova collapsed and we no longer have low-cost airlines in the Republic of Moldova. The Municipal Council has the right to found a municipal company. All the employees who worked for these airlines that left today work in different cities in Europe. It would be easy to attract them back. I think this is the easiest objective of my program,” stated Vadim Brânzaniuc.
The debates are organized by ProTV Chisinau channel in partnership with Promo-LEX Association, the Association “Journalistic Investigations Center”, the independent online publication “NewsMaker”, “My Mayor’s Office” Association, IPN News Agency and the portal “Privesc.eu”.
