The Electoral Council of Electoral Constituency (CECE) in Chisinau has decided to exclude "Patriots of Moldova" Party from the race for local elections.
Ina Babin, Chisinau CECE deputy chair, told IPN that the decision was adopted on September 24 and provides for the exclusion from the electoral race of political party’s candidates for the position of municipal councillors and of the candidate for the mayor seat.
According to Ina Babin, on August 15, the "Patriots of Moldova" Party submitted the minutes concerning the candidates’ nomination, while the Electoral Code envisaged that this was allowed starting August 30, after the CECE’s establishment.
Ina Babin also told IPN that by the time the news was broadcast, 12 candidates had registered to enter the race for the capital city mayoralty.
