The candidates promote their platforms and campaign as they can, choose allies and use the political dividends they consider necessary. It is yet important to have an honest struggle, without personal attacks and calumny, candidate for the post of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia Oleg Garizan has told IPN.

Oleg Garizan stated that if he is elected Bashkan, he will promote the idea of keeping the Gagauz language in the region and will plead for including Taraclia district into the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. As to the foreign course, it will be aimed at the Customs Union, Russia and Turkey. A priority is to improve the relations between the Executive Committee and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, which are now defective, given that the two authorities have been involved in 13 lawsuits so far. As regards the relations with the central authorities, every functionary of state institutions, regardless of the political color, must aim to keep the country’s sovereignty.

The candidate said a fund should be created to support demographic improvements and to help the families with children. In order to ensure food security, the large agricultural farmsteads should be restored. A favorable investment climate must be created, while state institutions’ employees should include only people who will put people’s interests above the personal ones.

The elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. After two registered candidates withdrew, the race for the post of Bashkan now includes the following contenders: Valerii Ianioglo, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Chernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov.
