Those who want to run in electoral districts of the second level – mayor’s offices and town, commune and village councils – can submit the documents from September 26 until October 6 inclusive. The presented documents are examined by the district electoral council within seven days of their receipt, IPN reports.

In the case of local elections, the candidates for the posts of mayor or councilor of the local district are designated after the district electoral councils are constituted, but not earlier than 60 days before election day.

Candidates can be designated by political parties registered before the Central Election Commission’s decision on the setting of the date of the local general elections took effect and by formed and registered electoral blocs. Those who want can run as independents.

In the case of political parties and electoral blocs, the procedure for designating candidates for mayor and local councilor consists in the approval of the designation decisions in meetings of responsible bodies in accordance with the statutory provisions or with the agreements on their constitution, confirmed by minutes.

The procedure for designating independent candidates includes the collection of signatures by persons who put forward themselves and/or by initiative groups for supporting candidates for mayor or local councilor.

The subscription list forms can be asked from district electoral councils of the second level starting with September 29.

In the local general elections of November 5, voters will elect 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors. The election campaign starts on October 6.
