From today, October 13, the candidates for seats of MP who hold a public post are to suspend work. Until October 15 inclusive, the candidates must present documents confirming that they stopped work to the Central Election Commission (CEC). On October 10, the Commission registered the first 15 election runners, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the CEC, since the candidates for seats of MP are registered as election runners, they must renounce membership in parties or other social-political organizations in virtue of the posts they hold. This applies to employees of the Ministry of the Interior, the National Army, the Security and Information Service, the Prosecutor’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center, and the National Integrity Commission and to persons holding responsible posts such as deputy prime ministers, ministers and deputy ministers, ex-officio members of the Government, managers of central public authorities, district heads and deputy heads, mayors and deputy mayors, and town district heads and deputy heads.

Under Article 13, paragraph 3 of the Election, Code, when being registered as candidates in elections, the persons submit an own responsibility statement by which they pledge to leave their posts for the period of the election campaign.

For the candidates who will register afterward, the CEC will set other periods during which they will have to vacate their posts on a temporary basis.
