The candidates for President behave irresponsibly when they go to electoral meetings with tens of people without wearing face masks and without maintaining physical distance, giving this way a bad example to the others, said lawyer Anatolie Istrate, who contracted COVID-19, and is now recovering at home after a month of hospitalization.
“We do not call on the people not to cast their ballots. They will decide themselves. But it is irresponsibility, dear candidates, when you stay without a mask and gloves in front of 10-20 people, who are also without gloves, and tell them what you intend to do if you are elected President,” the lawyer stated in an online interview entitled “Call to reason from ward of patients seriously ill from COVID-19” that was conducted by IPN News Agency.
The man believes the election leaflets are also a source of infection if the person who disseminates them is infected. He knows two cases of the kind. “Be more responsible because, after the elections, there can be no one with whom to rule this country. Be more responsible when you go to the voters,” said the lawyer, addressing the candidates for President.
Anatolie Istrate does not understand why the Central Electoral Commission and the Government didn’t ban the dissemination of election leaflets in times of a pandemic. He considers the danger of spread of infection could have been diminished if the candidates chose to campaign on TV, avoiding direct contact with the voters. “When you are in the hospital and the citizen says that he contracted the virus when sharing these leaflets of a party because he needed money, you realize that it’s not normal,” he stated.
His wife Angela Istrate said more restrictive anti-COVID-19 measures should be introduced. The right to life is more important than the right to elect and be elected. When she sees that the state takes care of the citizens, she will go and vote for the candidate who shows love for the own people.
