The separation of waste and education of society not to throw litter everywhere are some of the solutions suggested by the candidates for mayor general of Chisinau municipality Alexandru Matu, Maxim Braila and Alexandru Roshko. According to these, the cleanup problem is a key one and this can be solved in a short period of time. The issue was discussed in debates on ProTV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

Alexandru Matu, of the Russian-Slavic Party, said special places with equipment for compactly storing waste should be set up in Chisinau. The separation of different types of waste is another solution and society should be taught to do this. “New devices should be thought up and installed. They should be designed so that no creatures enter them,” stated the candidate.

Maxim Braila, of the People’s Party, said during the first six months of mayoralty, if he is elected, he will start to build a waste recycling plant. “We will work out a project and will consider the projects about which many candidates for mayor speak in the election campaign,” he noted. According to the candidate, the suitable place will be identified later together with specialists in the field. “These waste dumps destroyed the lives of hundreds of people and several localities. It is a major concern for us.”

Alexandr Roshko, of the Party “Our Home - Moldova”, noted the waste storage problem is among the most pressing ones in Chisinau. The competent services should work more responsibly. “We must use modern equipment and technologies for recycling waste. The garbage should be separated,” he stated, adding that the solving of this problem mainly depends on each citizen apart.

The new mayoral elections in Chisinau will be held on May 20, 2018.
