Candidate proposes creation of scientific council to advise Chisinau Mayor

Valentina Buliga, the Democratic hopeful for mayor in Chisinau, launched an initiative today at a meeting with the members of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences proposing the creation of a Scientific Council to offer expert advice to the Mayor, the Democratic Party said in a press release. Such a Council would assist the municipality in developing a comprehensive strategy for the city's sustainable development, it was explained. “The act of administrating public affairs in Chisinau Municipality should become responsible, transparent and competent. The municipal authorities should pay increased attention to the development and consolidation of a permanent dialogue with the scientific community, civil society, the citizens, an objective that we will attain through various instruments”, said the Democratic candidate. According to Valentina Buliga, Chisinau's Sustainable Development Strategy should include a deep analysis of the current situation in three key areas: social, economic and infrastructure issues. “We should know which are the strengths and weaknesses of our development plans, as well as the risks that we should take into account”, said Buliga. According to the press release, Valentina Buliga's proposal was supported by the members of the academic community, who contributed with their own recommendations on how to create an effective Council.
