Corneliu Radauta, the top candidate of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) of Romania for the post of diaspora senator, calls on the Romanians from the diaspora to vote in the December 11 elections. “This Sunday’s elections are of special importance both for Romania and especially for Bessarabia. This Sunday, the Romanian diaspora must decide who to delegate the right to represent it with dignity and responsibility in the Senate of Romania and the Chamber of Deputies,” the candidate said in a news conference at IPN.

Corneliu Radauta said that being born and raised in Bessarabia, with his parents living in France for 15 years and with relatives and friends working in Italy and the UK, even if he has lived in Romania for many years, he knows the problems faced by the Romanians from the diaspora very well.

“In this election campaign, after many working visits to several European states, returning after the presidential elections here, to the Republic of Moldova, I had the same feelings as in 2001, when the Communists took over. Being the leader of the Bessarabian students in Romania at that time, I suddenly switched over from cultural and educational projects to marches and protests. In revolt, we event had the courage to set fire to the red flag, with the hammer and sickle, in front of the Embassy of Moldova in Romania. Afterward, I was followed, intimidated and even threatened. Moreover, unknown persons set my parents’ house on fire,” said the ALDE candidate for the post of diaspora senator.

Corneliu Radauta also said that these actions didn’t stop him and in time he staged protest marches, being convinced that Bessarabia has a future only through the union with Romania and the European integration.

“In all the protests and marches, we had the Romanian tricolor and the flag of the European Union with us. Several years later, we set up the Foundation “Barasabia Pro Europa” and built the largest association of Bessarabians in Romania – the National Union of Young Bessarabian. In 15 years, in Bessarabia we have again a Communist President elected by fraud and manipulation. This sinister personage called Igor Dodon, who was educated politically and promoted in the Party of Communists by Voronin, will definitely bring Bessarabia to darkness and poverty,” stated Corneliu Radauta.

The only solution that he sees for the pro-European and pro-Romanian forces to continue to exist is for all the Bessarabians with Romanian nationality to go and vote this Sunday. “Being a senator on behalf of ALDE, which together with its political partner in Romania will have a majority of seats in the Parliament of Romania and will govern Romania during the next four years, I will have the possibility and power to implement the projects I undertook for this term and will definitely be that person who powerfully contributes to the maintaining of the pro-European and pro-Romanian course of Bessarabia,” said the candidate.

This is the commitment that he assumed before the Bessarabian Romanians from the diaspora. Corneliu Radauta calls upon all the Bessarabians with Romanian nationality to vote the candidate who is under No. 4 on the ballot this Sunday.
