The candidate for Prime Minister needs to ask for a vote of confidence from Parliament for the government program and the whole Cabinet within 15 days of the designation. In accordance with the constitutional provisions, the government program and the list of Cabinet members are discussed in a Parliament sitting. The legislative body gives a vote of confidence to the executive by a majority of votes of MP, IPN reports.

Following the vote of confidence given by Parliament, the President of the Republic of Moldova names the Government. The executive takes up its duties the day the Cabinet members take an oath of office before the President.

On February 10, Dorin Recean was proposed for premiership following the resignation tendered by Natalia Gavrilița. A year ago, he was named adviser to President Maia Sandu on defense and national security. He served as minister of home affairs in the Filat Government and the Leancă Government.
