The skills of children with special educational needs will be promoted within the framework of an awareness campaign entitled: " I also can ...". The campaign is launched by the Municipal Directorate for the Protection of the Rights of the Child. Asked by IPN, Lucia Caciuc, acting head of the Directorate, has stated that the event takes place in the context of marking, on December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
For two weeks, until December 9, in the placement, community and day care centers in Chisinau will be organized various cultural-artistic activities, in which will also take part children with special educational needs, for their better inclusion.
Lucia Caciuc has also said that, on December 3, when the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is marked, master classes will be held in the placement, community and day care centers, where children, along with artists, will paint and model in clay, while their works will be displayed in a sale exhibition that will be organized on Christmas Eve.
"We want to involve children with disabilities in social activities, but at the same time we want to draw the attention of the people around these children to the fact that they exist, that they are capable of doing beautiful things," stressed Lucia Caciuc.
Within the campaign, informative leaflets will be distributed to citizens to raise awareness of the needs of people with disabilities.
There are about 400 children with disabilities in Chisinau municipality.
