The Promo-LEX Association made a public call by which it asks to release ambulance drivers Anatolii Cebotari and Alexei Carpov who are held by the secessionist administration in Dubăsari town. According to the association, the information provided by relative and witnesses shows the two were deprived of liberty by the militia in Dubăsari, IPN reports.

Promo-LEX related that in the morning of April 3, the men, who are residents of Molovata Nouă village of Dubăsari district, being in Dubăsari town that is under the control of the secessionist authorities, were arrested by representatives of the militia. Both Anatolii Cebotari and Alexei Carpov work as ambulance drivers at the Emergency Service of the Dubăsari District Central Hospital. They were to enter the day shift of the service for which they worked for 36 years and, respectively, over five years.

“According to unofficial sources, the same day a “judge” of the Dubăsari District Court found the two guilty of an administrative contravention and placed them under arrest for 15 days at the remand prison in Dubăsari town. Relatives and friends transmitted food products and clothing to the two men, who tried to do their job. There is no information about the guaranteeing of their right to defense and their state of health,” said the association.

Promo-LEX repeatedly underlines that all the measures taken during an epidemiological crisis should be coordinated efficiently so as to avoid unjustified obstacles that compromise the efforts made to contain the pandemic and, especially, to treat the patients.

Through the public call, the Prime Minister and the President are asked to take prompt action to immediately and unconditionally set free citizens Anatolii Cebotari and Alexei Carpov, while the Prosecutor Generals Office is asked to investigate the case and take legal action. The association says the Joint Control Commission should convene immediately to seek the immediate withdrawal of the posts in Cocieri, which were groundlessly set up after March 17, 2020. The embassies are requested to monitor the situation.

The Reintegration Policies Bureau hasn’t year reacted to this case.
