The chairwoman of the Calarasi territorial office of the former "Shor" party has been indicted for complicity in the illegal financing of the political party. According to the prosecutors, the accused accepted by complicity the financing of the party from illegal sources, amounting to 468 thousand lei, IPN reports.
The criminal case was disjoined in 2024 from the basic case started in 2022, in which investigations continue.
According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the accused, from July to October 2022, acting as the president of the territorial organization Calarasi, allegedly coordinated the activities of the organization, knowing that the party was financed by an organized criminal group.
The money accepted was used to promote the party's political interests and to obtain power in the state by illegal means, the state prosecutors' statement said.
The defendant did not admit guilt.
The criminal case was sent for examination on the merits to the Chisinau Court, Buiucani district.
For the offense, the law provides for a fine of 57 500 to 92 500 lei or imprisonment from 2 to 7 years, in both cases with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to exercise certain activities for a term of 2 to 5 years.
During the criminal prosecution, in order to guarantee the execution of the fine and possible special confiscation, a seizure of the defendant's assets amounting to approximately 200 000 lei was imposed.
Previously, 15 other presidents of territorial organizations of the Shor party were indicted for complicity in the illegal financing of the party.
