The heavy rain caused flood across the Prut. A code red warning was issued by forecasters in many Romanian counties, and seaports were closed. The Galati County Committee for Emergency Situations on Sunday decided to evacuate all the people living close to rivers and in areas with potential risk of flooding. The measure was taken in the context in which Galati County has been under a code orange hydrological and meteorological warning since 08:00 p.m., and under code red from midnight until 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning, IPN reports, with reference to Euronews.ro.

TVR wrote that 5,438 people were evacuated or left themselves due to the danger of flooding.

According to Infotraffic Center of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, the ports of Constanta North, Constanta South and Mangalia were closed on Sunday evening due to the strong winds.

A new warning was issued by the meteorological authority for the counties of Moldova, Dobrogea, central and eastern Muntenia, according to digi24.ro. A code yellow rain and wind advisory is in force until Tuesday morning, 10:00 a.m. During this time frame, there will be heavy rainfall in those areas and the precipitation is expected to rise to 25-40 liters per square meter and even to over 50 liters per square meter in some places.

Although weather forecasts previously predicted heavy rain in central Moldova the coming days, the figures posted on Monday by specialized websites do not indicate excesses.
