Cahul-Oancea border-crossing point threatened by floods

The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service's press officer, Liliana Puscasu, has told Info-Prim Neo the danger of flooding the Cahul area still persists. The most vulnerable place is the Cahul-Oancea border-crossing point. More sandbags have been placed to raise the protection dam 4 meters up. The authorities continue to make efforts to prevent the houses and farmlands in the area from being flooded. A burning cigarette has caused a fire at the balcony of an apartment on Alecu Russo street in Chisinau. The fire managed to destroy a number of goods, until the firefighters extinguished it. Material goods on a surface of 6 sq. m. have burnt in „Nicolae Balcescu” lycee in Ciorescu village (Chisinau mun.), as the cause is being established. 1,282 fires have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the year, claiming 120 lives, including 9 children.
