The Cabinet proposes a new extension of the state of emergency, for 30 days, as from December 1. The draft decision approved on Wednesday will be submitted to Parliament for examination, IPN reports.

Minister of the Interior Adrian Efros said the bill to extend the state of emergency was drafted in connection with the regional security situation the past few months and the uncertainty regarding the further developments in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Given the strengthening of the instruments of information influence guided from outside the country with full or partial elements of disinformation, it is anticipated that the Russian factor will make efforts to bypass the measures imposed by the authorities to maintain the scale of fake news, manipulation and promotion of distorted messages,” stated the minister, noting that the potential of intensification of Russian intelligence services’ operations remains uncertain and it is therefore opportune to maintain vigilance and the crisis response mechanism.

The state of emergency was declared on February 24, 2022 and since then has been extended for multiple times, the last time on September 21, for 60 days.
