The firing and hiring in the Government will be done later, after the date of November 18, when presidential elections will be held in Parliament. After a meeting of MPs and ministers of the Liberal-Democratic Party on October 25, Prime Minister Vlad Filat told the press that the reshuffling is necessary, but the main objective now is to elect the President, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“There is room for better work in the Government, but the Cabinet reshuffling should be postponed until after the election of the head of state. Another argument is that we do not want the main objective, to vote in the President, to be intercalated with this reshuffling process that is not at all easy,” said the Premier.
Asked about the draft decision approved by the legislature, under which the Prime Minister is to submit the proposals concerning the Cabinet reshuffle within 14 days, Vlad Filat said the legislative body cannot tell the Premier when and how to start the related changes.
“The legislation clearly says how a Cabinet is reshuffled. A minister is replaced by the Premier’s request to the President of Moldova and is dismissed by presidential decree. The same procedure is used in the case of appointments,” said Vlad Filat. He added that the current situation is different from that when he proposed reshuffling the Cabinet, as the date of the presidential elections wasn’t yet set then.
The intention to reshuffle the Cabinet was announced by Vlad Filat on October 13, when he also demanded that the prosecutor general, the director of the Security and Information Service and the chairman of the National Financial Market Commission be dismissed because they reacted inappropriately to the raider attacks on banking institutions.
