Members of the Cabinet, together with Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, on May 1 had a working session with Moldova’s development partners. The meeting centered on the informative note presented by the development partners in March, which contained recommendations for implementing the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU, IPN reports.

The Government’s press service said the Premier thanked the foreign partners for the assistance provided to the Moldovan authorities in implementing the agenda to modernize and develop the country and noted the three key priorities of the current government: national unity, supremacy of the law and sustainable economy.

“We agreed these priorities as a result of discussions with the members of the Cabinet, representatives of the business community and civil society. We highly appreciate the support of the development partners and the continuous dialogue we have. Together we identified the problems and proposed solutions and concrete actions that we must take during a definite period of time,” said the Premier.

The development partners noted the opportunity of working out a reasonable monetary policy and reviewing the state budget. According to a press release of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, Dafina Gercheva, UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova, said that Moldova must address the development challenges based on a nationwide approach, powerful institutional coordination and concrete, well-justified policies.

“The major goal of the submitted recommendations is to become involved in a common dialogue with representatives of the Government in discussing development policies, while todays’ event is a proof that this objective is put into practice. We are impatiently waiting for fruitful results following this meeting,” said the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola.

World Bank Country Manager Alex Kremer, in his concluding speech given in the name of the development partners, said the political meeting was a fantastic example of team work and sincere discussions between ministers and the development partners. “The most important political options of Moldova were discussed and the development partners are waiting for concrete actions that will result from these discussions,” he stated.

On March 4 this year, the development partners submitted to the Government a set of recommendations with short- and medium-term actions based on argumentation, successful practices and the international commitments made by Moldova.
