The Cabinet approved the Liberal Democratic Party's initiative to amend the Election Code and curtail the election campaign from 60 to 30 days, Info-Prim Neo reports. All the members of the Cabinet voted in favor even if Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov, first deputy chairman of the Moldova Noastra Alliance, said he was against this initiative during discussions. The initiative was submitted shortly after the legislative body lengthened the election campaign for the early elections from 45 to 60 days, as in the case of ordinary elections. In order to shorten the campaign from 60 to 30 days, as the Liberal-Democrats propose, the initiative must be passed in Parliament. Earlier, this proposal was rejected by the other member parties of the Alliance for European Integration. They said they will not amend the electoral legislation until the elections. Acting President Mihai Ghimpu announced the early legislative elections would take place on November 28. According to him, the decree to dissolve the legislature will be issued on September 29.
