Cabinet approves pay raises for doctors and lump sums for teachers

The Cabinet allocated additional financial resources to support the “Bonus for Moldova” program. It goes to 846 million lei in one-off payments and pay raises, 500 million lei for roads, regional development and agriculture, and 352 million lei for paying heat and electricity bills at schools, kindergartens and other budget-funded institutions, IPN reports.

According to Minister of Finance Petru Rotaru, in the case of doctors and social assistants, the salaries will be raised for about 48,000 persons.

Over 66,000 teachers from all the educational institutions will receive a lump sum of 5,000 lei, while over 35,000 non-teaching staff will get by 3,000 lei one time.

Tens of thousands of police officers and carbineers will be offered by 5,000 lei in one-off payments.

The employees of all the theaters founded by the Ministry of Culture will have their pays increased by 25%. More than 1,700 persons will benefit from pay raises.

An additional sum of 105 million lei is allocated for roads, while over 300 million lei will go to projects to develop villages and towns and the European Village Program. A sum of 100 million lei will be used to support businesses in agriculture.

The transfers to local budgets for covering the heat and electricity costs of educational institutions and sports schools will be raised by 272 million lei, while the transfers for supporting vulnerable household users through monetary compensation will be increased by 170 million lei.

Following the made changes, the incomes and expenditure of the 2023 state budget were decreased both by 497.9 million lei to 65.7 billion lei incomes and 84.1 billion lei expenditure. The budget deficit remained unchanged.
