Moldovan citizens who will travel to the European Union will pay roaming charges "like at home", as foreigners who will travel to the Republic of Moldova will do. The Cabinet approved a draft decision that regulates the roaming charges with the European Union member states, IPN reports.

"The citizens of the Republic of Moldova in 2024 saved at least 220 million lei on account of reduced roaming charges. It was an arrangement and a promise that we delivered. Our citizens deserve to feel at home in any corner of Europe, whether they go to work or on vacation," said Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.

According to him, in this process of abolishing roaming charges, a few more things need to be done and this draft decision is aimed at this. "It comes to the "roam like at home" regime that is used in the European Union. It means that our people will enjoy fully abolished roaming charges starting with January 1, 2026 – this is our ambition," said Dumitru Alaiba.
