In the past two years, the Government has completed or is close to completing 850 infrastructure projects. Another 500 projects will be completed by the end of this year. It goes to the construction and rehabilitation of 530 kilometers of national, regional and local roads, the construction and rehabilitation of more than 478 kilometers of water and sewerage networks. Also, 57 bridges were built and rehabilitated and about 200 schools and kindergartens and also 28 houses of culture were renovated, Prime Minister Dorin Recean told a news conference, being quoted by IPN.

“The government builds day by day and we will continue this effort in the immediate period. We are in an extensive process of building the country. I’m referring to the large number of infrastructure projects that are changing the face of the Republic of Moldova. A part of these projects have been stalled for years or even decades. The government builds European villages and cities or, in essence, European living standards in Moldova,” said Premier Recean.

According to him, among the projects carried out are the construction of almost 300 kilometers of street lighting networks, but also the investment of over 2 billion lei in the modernization of hospitals. “These figures may seem abstract, but they mean thousands and tens of thousands of concrete people, families, students who have better living conditions. They mean 30,000 households, which is over 120,000 people who have access to drinking water or sewerage. They mean about 75,000 children who go to renovated schools and kindergartens and do not have a roof flowing, who can play in modernized parks and sports grounds, etc.,” stated the official.

Dorin Recean noted that important projects will be completed in the next two years, including the construction of the Leuseni - Hancesti road, an important road that connects Moldova to Europe. Also, the works will be completed on the Soroca - Arionești - Otaci road. This is a project to build 40 kilometers of European road in northern Moldova and is awaited by over 80,000 citizens. Also, the feasibility study for the first highway in Moldova, Ungheni - Chisinau – Odessa, is to be completed.

“For the residents of Chisinau, but also for the whole country, we will build one more sector of the capital’s ring road, which will streamline traffic flow and will have four traffic lanes over a distance of almost 7 kilometers. Also for the residents of Chisinau and for the whole country, we will complete the repair of the Chisinau Circus. The construction of the road bridge in Ungheni, which will lead to the fluidization of traffic to Romania and the European Union, is a project awaited for decades. The sanitary facilities in over 150 schools will be renovated and equipped,'” said Premier Recean.
