Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, said that together, by dedication, responsibility, combined forces and an ambitious reform agenda, the Republic of Moldova will be brought closer to the European Union. The statement was made in connection with the transmission of the completed second part of the EU accession questionnaire, IPN reports.

“By passing on the second part of the European Commission’s questionnaire for obtaining the status of EU accession candidate county, we completed the third step of our ten-step list to accession. The responses to the 1,822 questions from the second part of the questionnaire, classified into 33 chapters on 2,800 pages of answers hat refer to the Community acquis, were formulated by a devoted team of functionaries of ministries and government agencies, representatives of civil society, members of the diaspora and our country’s friends from the European Union,” stated Nicu Popescu.

According to him, this is the most complex bureaucratic exercise done in a recorder period of time. He thanked all those involved in the process. “We showed that together we are a force. This is a really historical stage for our country,” said the official.

The Republic of Moldova on Thursday transmitted the completed second part of the EU accession questionnaire. The document was passed on by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița to EU Ambassador in Chisinau Janis Mazeiks in the event to inaugurate the new head office of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. On April 22, the Republic of Moldova completed the first part of the questionnaire it received after submitting the application for EU membership.
