The bust of sculptor Idel Ianchelevici will be built up in the park situated on Mitropolit Varlaam St in Leova town. A decision to this effect was taken by the Cabinet, IPN reports.
The costs associated with the bust designing and building works and the works to lay out the adjoining area will be covered with money from the local budget of Leova town and with financial resources coming from donations and sponsorships.
Sculptor and painter Idel Ianchelevici was born in Leova town on May 5, 1909 and died in Maisons-Laffite, France, on June 26, 1994. He is one of the main representatives of classical figurative sculpture of the 20th century. His impressive and powerful works are characterized by humanity. The town La Louviѐre and the suburb of Paris Maisons-Laffitte have museums bearing the sculptor’s name and include over 300 sculptures and 4,000 paintings made by the artist. The arts museums of Bucharest and Galati display some of his works that are spread all over the world.
