Bust of Roman Coșciug unveiled on Alley of Illustrious Scientists and Doctors

The bust of university professor Roman Coșciug, who during 25 years headed the Therapy Department No. 1 of the Doctor Competence Improvement Faculty of the “Nicolae Testemiţanu” State University and Medicine, was unveiled on the Alley of Illustrious Scientists and Doctors in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The University’s rector Emil Ceban said the professor performed a fruitful scientific activity and is the author of over 140 scientific and methodological works, monographs and valuable articles. Roman Coșciug was a skillful teacher and clinician, a talented scientist and experienced manager who was highly appreciated by the medical community.
 
Professor Liliana Groppa, head of the Rheumatology and Nephrology Division of the Internal Medicine Department, noted that Roman Coșciug was a remarkable personality in the internal medicine service of Moldova. He headed the Internal Medicine Department and was a senior specialist in internal medicine and rheumatology at the Ministry of Health. He was also the initiator of the opening of the first rheumatology unit of the country. As a senior specialist, he permanently visited the country’s districts and provided expert advice to health professionals there.

“His teaching activity was well combined with clinical cases from his professional activity, which brought benefits to doctors in the Republic of Moldova,” stated professor Minodora Mazur, a pupil of Roman Coșciug.

The event forms part of the plan of activities staged to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the “Nicolae Testemiţanu” State University and Medicine as part of the University’s Days.
