The businessmen in Moldova are afraid to make donations owing to the excessive inspections to which they can be subjected in order to determine the source of the money, said Anatolie Mocrac, head of the Philanthropic Club “TAIS”. According to him, legislative amendments are needed to motivate the businessmen to make donations, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We do not deal with the collection of money. We unite the people who want to donate money with those who need this aid. The people should be educated, but in our society there is no interest and understanding,” Anatolie Mocrac told a news conference. He said that those who make donations in Moldova ask for anonymity as they fear the inspections that follow the philanthropic acts. In the same news conference, Pavel Borshevski, bishop of the Chisinau-based Saint Dumitru Church, said that the people often pass by a poor person and do not help him because they do not have cold cash and say to themselves that they will give them money when they have some. “We cannot help the entire country, but it is important that those who work and have the possibility help those in need. The rich man who did no help Lazarus went to hell because he wasn’t generous. The orphans or invalids are like this Lazarus and need help,” he stated. Larisa Melinteanu, principal of the preschool education institution for children with hearing impairments No167, said that society is not ready to see disabled children, while the parents face an information vacuum. The faithful persons can educate the feeling of responsibility in parents and children and can make themselves heard among businessmen and the authorities. The participants in the conference called upon the people of good faith to help those who are in need and upon the authorities to offer concessions to those who can and want to help the socially underprivileged groups.
