Buses, minibuses less popular among passengers

Over January-August, the number of passengers who chose buses and minibuses decreased by 5.6 million (7.8%), as compared to the similar period last year. At the same time, road passenger-kilometre grew by 195.3 million (13.7%). According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in this period buses and minibuses transported roughly 67 million passengers. The number of passengers transported by train in January-July constituted 3.2 million persons, by 187,200 passengers more (+6.1%), compared to the similar period last year. Rail passenger-kilometre however decreased by 0.4%. At the same time, he number of passengers carried by river transport rose 29.5% to 80,800. Some 280,000 people chose air transport (+5.9%). The traffic volume (in passenger-km) for these types of transport increased by 29.5% and 15.7%, respectively.
