A bullet that is allowed in hunting cannot cause eight internal injuries in the body though theoretically this is possible, stated the ballistic experts asked by Info-Prim Neo to comment on the statements of a doctor, who said that one bullet was found in the body of Sorin Paciu who was wounded mortally during hunting in the Domneasca Forest. But he had eight internal injuries.
“I cannot make a clear assessment until I see the materials. There are bullets of different diameters, but the bullets used in hunting cannot cause several internal injuries,” said Iurie Calaras, private judicial expert attested by the Ministry of Justice.
A ballistic expert, who asked not revealing his name after the first version of the news story was published, said it’s impossible for a bullet used in hunting to cause several internal injuries. He admitted that theoretically this is possible, but the bullet would be deformed. He personally didn’t see something like this in his practice
Officials of the National Forensic Examinations Center of the Ministry of Justice said it is not within their competence to tell the press if the ballistic examination in this case was finished. Only the Prosecutor’s Office will receive the results of the examination. The Health Ministry’s press service said the results of the medical examination can be furnished only to the relatives of the victim and the investigation body.
According to the paper “Ziarul de Garda”, Sorin Paciu was wounded with a ‘trio’ bullet that is banned in hunting in Moldova as it is very dangerous. “As the surgeon who operated Paciu said, his abdomen was pierced in one place, while inside there were eight injuries. Experts said this shows that the victim could have been injured only with a ‘trio’ bullet. “Ziarul de Garda” contacted four arms stores in Chisinau, which said that such bullets can be easily purchased in Chisinau for 8-9 lei apiece.
Sorin Paciu died in the hospital on December 25, two days after he was wounded during hunting in the Domneasca Forest, which involved government officials. The general public found out about this case two weeks after the incident. The leaders of the ruling alliance said the interaction between the law enforcement bodies was defective and agreed to constitute a commission of inquiry.
