Three hospitals in Chisinau – the Mother and Child Institute, the Institute of Emergency Medicine and the National Clinical Hospital "Timofei Mosneaga" – will have their energy efficiency improved. The works will last for about 11 months, and the total value of the three contracts exceeds €2.3 million, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Energy announced that the contracts for the designing of the technical documentation for the execution of rehabilitation works were signed. The companies that will carry out the works were selected according to an international tendering procedure.

"We want to bring the buildings of medical institutions to another level, both in terms of energy efficiency, but also in terms of comfort for all categories of beneficiaries," said the director of the Energy Project Implementation Unit Ruslan Surugiu.

In total, within the Energy Efficiency in the Republic of Moldova project, 10 medical institutions will be rehabilitated. Up to this stage, contracts for the designing of works were signed for 9 medical institutions, for the first of which the concept of technical execution documentation was already presented.

The investments total about €76 million. The money is provided by the European Union, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
