The designing, placing and building of filling stations near green and aquatic spaces will not be allowed. The Government approved regulations that stipulate such restrictions, IPN reports.

“The given regulations standardize the notions of the types of filling stations, define the common legal framework and the requirements and also the restrictions regarding the building of filling stations. It will be banned building filling stations in areas close to aquatic spaces, drinking water sources, health resorts and spas, urban green spaces, and on the territory of natural reserves and in sanitary protection areas of social institutions,” said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija.

The regulations also specify when the given provisions will not apply to the modernization of existing filling stations, like when the equipment is to be replaced without extending the capacity or the type of reservoirs, when an automation system is to be installed and when operators’ buildings are to be modernized.
