Building located at 1/1 Moscovei Blvd. reconnected to water supply

After working for four days, employees of Apa-Canal Chisinau managed Tuesday to reconnect the block situated at 1/1Moscovei Blvd. to the drinking water supply. The building remained without water after the branch pipe iced up, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the supplier. According to specialists, the incident happened because the pipes were laid at a shallow depth and were not insulated. The workers used special equipment to unfreeze the branch pipe. The works lasted long as the soil was frozen and it was very cold. A section of 40m of the pipe was replaced. The costs were covered by Apa-Canal Chisinau. During the four days, the dwellers were provided with water by tanks. Owing to the severe frost of the last two weeks, about 600 branch pipes got frozen. Mainly private houses and offices remained without drinking water. The water supplier specifies that it is the duty of the beneficiaries to protect the water meters from bad weather, including frost. Apa-Canal Chisinau can unfreeze only the steel pipes, while the polyethylene pipes must be replaced.
