Budget-funded employees' average salary lower than 2,500 lei

The average monthly pay of a salaried employee in April was 2,860.2 lei. Compared with April 2009, the average gross salary rose by 2.6%. Taking into account the rate of inflation, the real salary was 99.4% of the last year's level, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the National Bureau of Statistics. The average pay in the budgetary sector was 2,458.9 lei, while in the real sector – slightly over 3,000 lei. The highest salaries continue to be paid in the financial and banking sector - 5,907.7 lei on average. The average salary in the energy sector was 4,482.3, while in transport and communications – 3,738.6 lei. The agricultural workers received the lowest average salary – 1,360.4 lei.
