The budget in the first three months of this year was fulfilled by over 7.8% above the control figure presented. The revenues from the taxes collected by the Main State Tax Inspectorate increased by 16.8%, which is by 200 million lei more than projected, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.

In a Government meeting, Adrian Timotin, deputy head of the Main State Tax Inspectorate, said the increase is due to the amendments to the budgetary-fiscal legislation that came into force on January 1, 2013 and to the measures taken to combat smuggling and the activity of phantom companies. According to forecasts, the revenues will rise by 17% towards the end of the year.

Acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in this connection that the institutions responsible for collecting taxes have the duty of ensuring efficient fiscal administration so that the national budget incomes contribute to increasing salaries and pensions and to improving infrastructure. He urged the managers of the mentioned institutions to mobilize their teams and cope with the new projects in the field, including the implementation of fiscal e-administration and of indirect taxation methods.
