Buciumul Studio is both municipal and state-owned company

Buciumul Studio is simultaneously state-owned company and municipal company, the head of the General Finance Division Maria Caraus said at Tuesday’s meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Presenting a report on the formation and fulfillment of the municipal budget for 2007 prepared by Moldova’s Audit Office, Caraus said that the studio has only one owner – Tudor Tataru - and is a legal entity. But it is registered both with the Chisinau municipality and with the Government of Moldova. According to the quoted source, the Audit Office recommends the authorities to remove these deviations from the legislative norms. “Initially, Buciumul was municipal company, but the Government later created the state-run company Buciumul without the CMC’s consent,” said Oleg Cernei, municipal councilor of the faction of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party. Both Cernei and the president of the Liberal Party’s faction in the CMC Corina Fusu said that this studio was allocated 400,000 lei from the municipal budget in 2007. It is not yet known how this money was spent. A number of councilors proposed selling the municipal authorities’ stake in Buciumul to the Government so as the company does not have two owners. But the proposal was rejected. “We cannot sell a municipal company so easily. The company is liquidated when somebody wants to hide certain irregularities,” Corina Fusu said. In the end, the draft decision on the Audit Office’s report was sent to the expert commissions for reexamination so that no decision on the owner of Buciumul Studio was taken. The tourist resort Buciumul Moldovan Village is situated 30 km of Chisinau.
