Bucharest 9 Summit will discuss Moldova as well

Special attention at the Bucharest 9 Summit that will take place in Bratislava on June 6 will be devoted to the vulnerable partners form the region, like the Republic of Moldova, which faces increased security challenges, the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis has announced.

Klaus Iohannis will co-chair the Bucharest 9 Summit together with the President of Slovakia Zuzana Čaputová and the President of Poland Andrzej Duda. The event will involve NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The Romanian presidential administration said the meeting will take place about a month before the NATO Summit of Vilnius and will enable to exchange opinions on the priorities from the allied agenda and on the major objectives, with emphasis on the strengthening of the NATO’s position concerning the Eastern Flank and the intensification of cooperation with Ukraine.

The discussions will focus on the assessment of the progress made in implementing the allied decisions adopted at the NATO Summit in Madrid, including as regards the defense costs and investment commitments and the support provided to Ukraine to support its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
