High-ranking officials in Brussels highlighted once again that they want to see results and the support that the Republic of Moldova receives should be put to good use to benefit the people, diplomat and former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mihai Camerzan said, commenting on the statements made by Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn in a meeting with Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs Tudor Ulianovschi, IPN reports.

In the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, Mihai Camerzan said the visit paid by the foreign affairs minister to Brussels is a confirmation that the European course remains unchanged despite the major changes made in the Government. “What I understood from this message is that the EU will continue to support the Government and the Republic of Moldova in all its efforts. This is very important,” stated the diplomat.

According to political analyst Corneliu Ciurea, the European Commission does not want to have problems with the Republic of Moldova. There is definitely support for Moldova within the Commission. At the same time, the European Commission cannot praise the government a lot as there is the pressure exerted by the pro-European opposition parties of the right. “The Commission is between the hammer and sickle. It must behave politically correct or be more or less neutral in relation to our political forces,” stated Corneliu Ciurea.

On February 14, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi paid a working visit to Brussels where he had meetings with Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid.
