The bronze busts of one of the greatest actors of Moldova, Grigore Grigoriu, and of his son, Traian, both of them killed in road accidents, have been stolen from their tombs in the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca street of Chisinau. The authors of the theft turned out to be six minors, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Ministry of Interiors, only the bust of the actor’s wife remained intact, the other two being dismounted from the pedestal. Shortly, the policemen have detained the offenders. The minors, aged 14 and 17, students of high schools in Chisinau, recognised that they damaged the monument of Grigoriu’s family, while the artist’s bronze bust was sold for MDL 1100.
At the moment, the busts of Grigoriu actors were found and are under police’s supervision. Police tries to identify the persons that have bought the actors’ busts to hold them answerable. But the minors could be set free due to their age, while their parents might face fines.
Police supposes that the six minors are also involved in deteriorating other monuments from the tombs.
