The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) on April 1 summed up the results of the contest to fill the available 15 slots of Multiplex A. The Council accepted the applications of the 12 TV channels and announced a new contest for the three remaining slots, IPN reports.
The 12 TV channels are: “Canal Regional TV”, “TV 7”, “TVR Moldova”, “Moldova 1”, “N 4”, “Publika TV”, “Canal 2”, “Canal 3”, “Prime”, “Agro TV Moldova”, “CTC Mega” and “Super TV”.
The winners of the contest were urged to obey the legislation and to increase the volume of national products. “Everyone should be aware of what they do and should obey the legislation, the Broadcasting Code and the normative decisions of the BCC. We will continue to show what’s good and what measures should be taken by our monitoring,” said the Council’s chairman Dinu Ciocan.
The BCC members asked the winner to provide audiovisual products of a high quality and more products in the Romanian language. “The TV channels should realize the role that they play on our media market and should become more responsible. I mean the channels that have a very low percentage of national products, a content that is not qualitative enough for our spectators. I refer to the TV channels that retransmit Russian news bulletins and analytical programs and that do not obey the requirements of the BCC,” said Council member Cristina Matu.
The BCC announced a new contest to fill the other three spots of Multiplex A. All those interested must file applications within 30 days of the publication of the relevant decision in the Official Gazette.
Multiplex A envisions the broadcasting of standard-definition TV program services that cover 65% of Moldova’s territory and 75% of the population. The license for using the terrestrial digital multiplex is valid for 7 years. The 12 TV channels will pay by €7 000 a month for using slots of Multiplex A. If all the 15 slots are filled, the fee will be about €5 600.
