Broadcasting Council publicly warns Teleradio-Moldova over lack of license for TV Moldova International

The Coordinating Broadcasting Council (CCA) has publicly warned Teleradio-Moldova Company (TRM) on Tuesday, January 16, for not requesting a broadcasting license for TV Moldova International channel in due time.
Previously, CCA sent a letter to the Company through which TRM was warned that TV Moldova International broadcasted without license, which is a violation.
Ludmila Barba, director of Moldova International Department stated at the meeting of CCA that the Company considers it does not need a license as it is a part of TRM that already has a license and Moldova International is the international version of Moldova 1.
On the other hand, several CCA members said the license is necessary and several of them suggested the suspension of the channel’s transmission.
Finally, the CCA’s vote stood at 5 against 4 for publicly warn TRM without suspending the transmission of TV Moldova International.
TV Moldova International broadcasts via satellite starting January 1. The two-hour programme that is rerun 12 times in 24 hours is broadcasted 7 days a week. The programme includes a newscast and several shows.
