Broadcasters invited to submit applications for available TV, radio frequencies

With the Broadcasting Coordination Council’s (BCC) decision to make available 18 radio frequencies, 13 television channels and the relay No.1 published in Friday’s issue of the Official Gazette, interested broadcasters may start submitting their applications to the audiovisual authority. Five of the radio frequencies made available are covering Chisinau, and the rest other regions of the country. Most of them, 10, are currently used by Sanatatea Radio, five are used by Antena C, two by Pro FM and one by Vzrosloe Radio Shanson. Most of the TV channels put up for contest are covering southern Moldova, except for three – Balti, Soroca and Causeni. Four of them are used by Gagauzia TV, six are free, and three are used by Studio L based in Causeni, Aiyn Aciyc based in Ciadar Lunga and Sor TV based in Soroca. The deadline for submitting applications expires 30 days from the publication of the BCC decision. The Council will set the date of the competition no later than 20 days after the abovementioned deadline. Under the Broadcasting Code, broadcasting licences are released for a term of seven years.
