The broadcasters and distributors of services in Comrat encounter piracy-related problems because there are distributors that work on the territory of Gagauzia without retransmission authorization from the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) and thus there appear disloyal competition, the Council’s chairman Marian Pocaznoi stated for Info-Prim Neo.
“A roundtable meeting was held in the southern region of Moldova, in Comrat on November 4. The initial aim of the meeting was to facilitate the dialogue between the broadcasters and the broadcasting regulator, but more problems faced by the local broadcasters were identified meanwhile and addressed,” said Marian Pocaznoi.
According to him, the distributors of services that work illegally in the region do not retransmit the programs of the local broadcasters, which sustain thus significant losses. Marian Pocaznoi said they will inform the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Tax Inspectorate and the Ministry of the Interior about the identified irregularities.
The event was organized by the Broadcasting Coordination Council in cooperation with the Council of Europe.
