The leader of the Political Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Andrei Năstase, who intends to run in constituency No. 33 Chisinau on behalf of the bloc ACUM, could have an opponent with an almost similar name – Andrei Nastas – who would run independently. Asked by journalists to comment on such a situation and if it does not confuse the voters, the president of the Central Election Commission Alina Russu said the supreme law stipulates two political rights – to elect and to be elected. Respectively, any person can ask to be registered as an election runner. “Yes, we saw that there are two persons who have similar name and surname in one of the constituencies in the municipality of Chisinau,” stated Alina Russu.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip comes second on the Democratic Party’s list of candidates for the national constituency. He will also compete in single-member constituency No. 20 Strășeni.

Contacted by IPN, Andrei Volentir, a member of the Central Election Commission, said that under the electoral legislation, the ministers stop work when they are registered as election runners. The Premier and the Head of State are not oblige to leave office.

Former President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin tops the Party of Communists’ list of candidates for the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019.  The other candidates on the list come in alphabetical order.

The party was also registered as a participant in the national consultative referendum that pleads “Against”.

The private individuals were those who saved the banks from the loan crisis experienced after 2014. On the one hand, the deposits started to grow in volume. On the other hand, the volume of released loans fell below the level witnessed before the crisis. Currently, the total balance of loans is of about 32 billion lei, as opposed to 48 million lei before 2014. The opinion was stated in the talk show “15 minutes of economic realism”.

The official foreign exchange reserves at the end of last December came to US$ 2.995,19 billion, a decrease of US$ 19.4 million on November 30, 2018,.

The National Bank of Moldova said the decline was due to the net interventions on the domestic currency market in the form of currency sales of US$ 21.2 million. Also, the Ministry of Finance made payments of US$ 12.13 million, while US$ 6.55 million went to service Moldova’s public foreign debt. The exchange rates of the currencies that form part of the foreign exchange reserves diminished against the U.S. dollar (US$ 2.24m).

The rescuers received 24 universal cars that will enable them to intervene through snowdrifts and in flooded and marshy areas. The vehicles were bought with public funds and cost over 17 million lei. The new vehicles will help rescuers to swifter reach a place and provide assistance to people, said the head of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Mihail Harabagiu.

According to Natalia Ungureanu, forecaster on duty at the State Hydrometeorological Service, snow is expected on January 6, in parts heavy. Nighttime temperatures will oscillate between -6 and -1 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures will be around 0 degrees Celsius. It will continue to snow on January 7. Temperatures will decease to -11 degrees Celsius at night and -7 degrees Celsius during the day.
